HISTORY:
JUL 1998 A Class Mini MPV,
high roofed Hatchback launched with 1.4 (82 bhp) and 1.6 (102 bhp) petrol engines,
or 1.7 turbo diesel (90 bhp); Specification levels Classic, Elegance, Sport and
Avant-garde. All models have traction control, anti-lock brakes and airbags all
round. Options include ESP braking system and clutchless manual transmission.
Avant-garde models have leather trim and alloy wheels. JUL 1999 1.9 (125 bhp)
A Class launched, in both Elegance and Avant-garde trim levels.

COMMENTS:
It’s a Mercedes which gives this stylish, practical, MPV a certain credibility,
but the ride is too stiff and a bit lifeless at speed. It is however one of the
safest small cars on the road and well find its way into many executive homes
as a second car to its larger cousins. |
