OCT
1989 300 SL, 300 SL-24 and 500 SL Convertibles launched.
OCT 1992 600 SL Convertible launched. JAN 1995 All models
now have improved immobiliser system and infra-red remote
central locking. JUN 1995 SL320 and SL500 'Mille Miglia'
limited editions launched. OCT 1995 Revisions: all models
have side airbags and automatic climate control; SL600
has new 5 speed automatic gearbox. JUN 1996 Revisions:
SL280 and SL320 have 5-speed automatic gearbox and acceleration
skid control (ASR); all models have rain sensor. AMG SL60
V8 (381 bhp) launched in very limited numbers (not listed).
JAN 1997 All models have 'Brake Assist' emergency braking.
JAN 1998 SL320 and SL500 'Special Edition' models launched
(75 of each) launched. JUN 1998 SL280 V6 (193 bhp) and
SL320 (228 bhp) launched with improved specification including
metallic paint, leather seats, heated front seats, electric
adjustable steering column and ESP electronic stability
control system. SL500 now has low emission engine, ESP
electronic stability control, Xenon headlamps (also SL600)
and boot mounted CD autochanger (also SL600). All models
have 17" 5-hole alloy wheels and 4-spoke steering wheel.
